Is there a vaccine for COVID-19?
Yes there are now several vaccines that are in use. The first mass vaccination programme started in early December 2020 and as of and as of 15 February 2021, 175.3 million vaccine doses have been administered. At least 7 different vaccines (3 platforms) have been administered.
Today, Ghana became the first country outside India to receive COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped via the COVAX Facility. This is a historic step towards our goal to ensure equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines globally, in what will be the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history. The delivery is part of a first wave of arrivals that will continue in the coming days and weeks.
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Central Dansoman Clinic has been working with the public sector to test patients for COVID-19. As the spread in Ghana increases, additional measures have been put in place to test more people showing signs and symptoms as a way of mitigating the spread.
